Smoke & Dagger combines smooth older malts with intense, explosive ones for a powerful yet balanced taste. Master Blender Julieann Fernandez went all out with this one, even adding a one-off supercharged, highly-peated Moine as part of the recipe. Dark and smoky with a hidden edge, experience an ocean of powerful peat with waves of sea spray and salted caramel.

Colour

Deep amber with mahogany depth and a coppery glow.

Nose

Dark, maritime smoke unfurls a dense peat core, carried on briny sea spray. Beneath, charred oak and salted caramel weave a glossy sweetness, with a hidden edge hinting at the alchemist’s bold fusion.

Palate

On the palate, a bold fusion of smoke and peat rides a backbone of smooth, aged malts. A sea-salted caramel sweetness threads through charred oak and a highly-peated Moine core, delivering a maritime, resinous depth. The finish is long and warming, with brisk peat, smoke and saline echoes.

Finish

An enduring maritime finish: smoke and peat ride the palate, carried by sea spray and salted caramel as they fade into dry, charred oak. A saline sweetness lingers with a whisper of spice, leaving a bold, refined warmth.

Black Bottle
Black Bottle was introduced in 1879 by Charles, David and Gordon Graham, a family of Aberdeen tea merchants who moved into whisky blending. The blend was originally sold in black glass, giving the brand its name, but the First World War forced a switch to green glass when supplies from Germany were cut off. Ownership later passed through Schenley, Whitbread, Allied Distillers, Highland Distillers, Edrington and Burn Stewart, before the brand became part of CVH Spirits following the 2023 creation of the company after Heineken’s acquisition of Distell.
