Made to a secret recipe – with an ingenious, alchemic method to bring a secret smoke to life – Captain's Cask combines smooth older malts with intense, explosive ones for a powerful yet balanced taste.
Master Blender Julieann Fernandez went all out with this one, using peated malts which had been finishing in the finest rum casks to enhance the wonderful tropical fruit notes of the grain. Packed full of ripe pineapple and toasted oak, this complex blend has layers of toffee, hazelnut and freshly burnt kindling, with a sprinkle of cracked black pepper.

Colour
Rich mahogany-amber with copper-bronze edges and a warm, honey-gold glow.
Nose
Bright tropical nose of ripe pineapple and coconut, wrapped in vanilla and rum-kissed sweetness. Toasted oak provides structure, with hazelnut and toffee giving warmth. A peated whisper brings a signature Black Bottle smoke, while freshly burnt kindling and a crack of black pepper linger.
Palate
Bright pineapple and coconut mingle with vanilla, layered over toasted oak and toffee. Peated malts finish in rum casks, lending tropical warmth and a maritime smoke that grows on the palate. Hazelnut and burnt kindling add depth, with cracked black pepper lifting the finish into a long, balanced smoky tail.
Finish
Long, smoky finish with tropical pineapple and vanilla lingering on toasted oak and toffee, swept by hazelnut and a whisper of burnt kindling, ending in a peppery, lingering spark.
