A single sherry cask Ben Nevis single malt, distilled in 1992 and left to mature in cask #2623 for 14 years. Rather interestingly it was matured in the cask for 13 years, then reduced in ABV with water in the cask before being matured for another year.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Dark amber with mahogany depths and coppery highlights, a rich sherry glow.

Nose

A bright nose of orange peel and liquorice, edged by mineral notes and coastal hints. It opens to chocolate and nutty aromas, with whispers of leather and herbs.

Palate

Full and sherried on the palate, with sweet raisins and kumquats, layered with chocolate and orange liqueur. A touch of ginger, a delicate smokiness in the background, and a coastal lift.

Finish

Medium-long, the finish delivers a rounded sherry sweetness that lingers with spices and a touch of oak, slowly evolving in the glass to reveal extra warmth and depth.
