Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, burnished amber with mahogany undertones and a coppery glow.
Nose
Rich sherry aroma blankets dried fruits—raisin, fig and candied orange—bound with dark chocolate and cocoa nibs. Subtle toasted almond, coffee bean notes, and warm oak spice rise from the glass, hinting at the cask-strength depth of the 1996 Ben Nevis.
Palate
Powerful, sherried and richly textured, the palate delivers dense dried fruit—raisin, fig, prune—woven with dark chocolate and cocoa. Toasted oak and cinnamon emerge with a peppery warmth mid-palate, carried by cask-strength intensity into a long, lingering finish of sweet-spice and espresso-like bitterness.
Finish
Long and warming, the finish unfolds with espresso and dark chocolate, while dried fruit and fig persist from the sherry cask. Rich oak spice lingers, tapering to a cocoa-dusted, nutty aftertaste that holds a gentle warmth.
