Ballykeefe is an entirely independent, artisan, family-owned Single Estate Whiskey Distillery, which was built in 2016 to diversify a working family farm for successor generations.
The nose is intense, but gentle with real depth and character, with powerful notes of warm caramel, firm oak vanilla, malt cereal and a small hint of coconut. The taste at first has a burst of orange peel and dark chocolate mid tongue. Then a surge of spice with notes of liquorice, cloves, cardamom and a hint of soothing menthol oil in the background. A small splash of water calmed the cask strength fire and enhanced the luscious mouthfeel. There is a long slow burning finish dominated by cloved oranges and aniseed.

Colour
Deep amber with luminous copper-gold highlights and a warm, burnished glow, hinting at oak and caramel in the glass.
Nose
Intense, yet gentle on the nose, with real depth and character. Aromas of warm caramel, firm oak vanilla, malt cereal and a subtle hint of coconut.
Palate
Orange peel and dark chocolate open the palate, followed by a warming spice parade—licorice, cloves, cardamom—with a menthol hint. With a splash of water, the cask-strength mouthfeel becomes luscious and expansive. The finish is long and warming, dominated by cloved orange and aniseed.
Finish
A long, slow-burning finish dominated by cloved oranges and a pronounced note of aniseed, leaving a warming spice on the palate.
