Cask Strength Distillery Bottling

Distilled using barley which has been infused with peat to a level of at least 50ppm during the drying process, the spirit produced is then matured in the finest oak casks from the USA. Ballechin's commitment to quality means that no casks will be used for more than two maturation cycles.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet honey entwines with peat smoke and iodine, followed by dried fruit and a mix of nuts, inviting a warm, savory aroma.

Palate

Opening flavours of subtle smoke and oak spices are complemented by the sweetness of barley sugar and exotic fruits. Then the richness of pomegranate and warm caramel, with a hint of leather.

Ballechin
(bell-leck-in) Ballechin is the heavily peated single malt produced at Edradour Distillery near Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire. The name revives that of the old Ballechin farm distillery, a nearby Perthshire producer founded in the early 19th century and closed in the 1920s. Modern Ballechin began in 2003, after Andrew Symington of Signatory Vintage acquired Edradour in 2002 and expanded the distillery’s range beyond its traditional unpeated house style.
