Ardbeg Managers Choice Sherry Cask #2391 Whisky 22 Year Old · 1976 Vintage
Out of stock
A key essential in any serious Ardbeg collection is this famous Manager's Choice bottling. A single Sherry cask from 1976 was personally selected by distillery manager Stuart Thomson which was then hand bottled (and hand signed by Stuart) exclusively for sale at the distillery way back in 1999. This is one of the most spectacular bottles to come out of Ardbeg in the past 25 years and is testament to the enduring loyalty the distillery has from its many worshipers. If you were lucky enough to visit the distillery during 1999 then this bottle would have cost you just £90.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, burnished copper-amber with mahogany hues and a hint of garnet.
Nose
Intense peat and coastal brine rise from the glass, braided with rich sherry sweetness. Dried fig and raisin mingle with dark chocolate, toffee and a touch of orange zest, while leather, smoked oak and a maritime saline edge lend measured depth and refinement.
Palate
Opulent and intensely peated, the palate marries Ardbeg’s signature smoke with rich sherry influence. Dried fig and raisin sweetness folds into dark chocolate, toffee and espresso, while oak-spice and a whisper of sea salt provide structure. Leather and candle-wax notes linger mid-palate, finishing with smoky embers, orange zest and a long, warming fade.
Finish
Superbly long, velvety finish that marries Ardbeg’s peat smoke with rich Sherry sweetness. Dried fruits—prune, fig, raisin—rise with cocoa, espresso and orange zest, then settle into a coastal warmth. The finish lingers with a savory, spicy kiss and a faint saline undertone, slowly fading into smoke-dusted embers.
