West Midlands Distillery Siblings Peated English Single Malt Whisky
Out of stock
Siblings is a deliberately contrasting pair of English single malts created from matching first-fill ex-Oz Tyler bourbon casks. Named after the brother-and-sister founders of West Midlands Distillery, the project was designed to demonstrate how two whiskies sharing the same origin could evolve into dramatically different expressions.
Rather than using traditionally peated barley, West Midlands Distillery chose an unconventional approach by peat-smoking the oak cask itself before filling. This technique allows the smoke to become part of the maturation process rather than the spirit's raw ingredients, creating an intensely smoky whisky while preserving the underlying character of the distillery's spirit and the first-fill bourbon cask.
Bottled at 52.1% ABV, this exceptionally limited release yielded just 123 bottles. The result is a whisky that balances substantial, clean smoke with the sweetness of first-fill bourbon maturation. Importantly, the smoke was deliberately designed to be approachable rather than medicinal, making it an ideal introduction for drinkers who may not usually choose peated whisky.
