The SS Politician Blended Scotch Whisky
Out of stock
The SS Politician was an 8000-ton cargo ship owned by T & J Harrison of Liverpool. It left Liverpool on 3 February 1941, bound for Kingston, Jamaica and New Orleans with a cargo including 28,000 cases of whisky. The ship sank near the island of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland, and much of the wreck's cargo was salvaged by the island's inhabitants. The story of the wreck and looting was the basis for the book and film Whisky Galore!
This decanter of Whisky was produced as a tribute to this event and even contains a small amount of the Whisky recovered from the wreck.

Lustrous deep amber with coppery mahogany undertones.
Nose
Opulent sherry notes envelop dark fruit—raisins, fig, plum—paired with toasted almond and cocoa. Rich oak spices, vanilla, and a touch of caramel weave through the aroma. A delicate maritime salt lift hints at its voyage-heritage and the salvaged cask within.
Palate
Velvety, medium-weight palate with a dark fruit core of fig, raisin and cherry, enriched by sherry-driven warmth. Cocoa, toasted almond and orange zest weave through subtle spice and oak, while a whisper of smoke lingers. A long, refined finish carries the fruit and spice, finishing with a soft sweetness and polished elegance.
Finish
Long and refined, the finish reveals sherried dark fruit, raisin and fig, with cocoa and toffee. Oak and vanilla lend warmth while gentle spice lingers, touched by a seaside note that gradually fades into a polished, enduring afterglow.
