Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep burnished amber with coppery highlights and mahogany undertones.

Nose

Rich sherry and polished oak dominate, releasing dried fig, raisin and prune with orange zest brightness. Vanilla, caramel and toasted almond weave through cinnamon and clove, while a velvety sweetness lingers, hinting at cocoa-dark richness beneath a refined, aromatic finish.

Palate

Opulent and full-bodied, this sherry-cask Macallan coats the palate with velvety richness. Raisins, dried figs and orange zest unfold with dark chocolate, toasted spice and a hint of espresso. Nutmeg and clove weave through refined oak, delivering a warming, long finish of sherried fruit, cocoa and timber.

Finish

An opulent, long finish of velvety sherry sweetness, with raisin, fig and orange zest lingering on the palate. Cocoa and spice weave through the warmth, while cinnamon and clove leave a refined, lingering glow of oak and character.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
