Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich copper-gold with deep amber and sunlit honey highlights, a luminous, reddish bronze glow.
Nose
Opulent sherried aromas of dark plum, raisin and fig, threaded with orange zest and vanilla from rich oak. Subtle cocoa, almond and spice lend elegance, while a whisper of leather adds vintage depth. A luxurious, inviting scent that speaks to Macallan’s cask‑sweet refinement.
Palate
Silky, medium-bodied on the palate, The Macallan Private Eye unfolds sherried depth with raisin and fig, supported by dark chocolate, orange zest and toasted almond. Vanilla and spice—cinnamon and nutmeg—trace the oak in a refined, well-integrated weave. The finish is warm and persistent, with graceful bitterness and nutty richness.
Finish
Long, velvety finish with sherry-driven depth: rich dried fruit, orange zest, and warm spice unfold, followed by cocoa nibs and toasted oak. A whisper of leather lingers as the 1961 cask influence echoes, leaving a refined, lingering sweetness that slowly fades to elegant, polished oak.
