A gorgeous single cask Spirit of Hven single malt whisky, which pays tribute to Saint Nicholas, patron of fishermen and sailors (among others).
For the Sankt Claus release, the Swedish distillers on the tiny island of Hven wanted a whisky that would bring warmth to a cold winter evening. The chosen whisky was matured in French oak casks which previously held Merlot wine, which surely had an influence on its radiant ruby red hue.
A bold, warming, subtly smoky expression, with plenty of red berry, dark chocolate and rich coffee notes throughout.
Hven Sankt Claus was named World Whisky of the Year 2015 by Whisky Advocate.

Nose
Warm and inviting, a Merlot-soaked French oak aroma wraps red berry fruit with dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Subtle ember smoke threads through, rounded by velvety spice and a clean, resinous backbone. A winter-warmed nose that hints at a rich, opulent mouthfeel to follow.
Palate
On the palate it is full-bodied and warming, with a velvety mouthfeel. Red berry fruits mingle with dark chocolate and espresso, lifted by a gentle smokiness. The French oak finish from Merlot cask lends mocha-like depth, yielding a long, cocoa-kissed finale with lingering warmth.
Finish
Long, warming finish with delicate smoke, where red berries trail into dark chocolate and espresso-like coffee, leaving a lingering velvet warmth.
