Distillery Bottling

A celebratory small batch release, originally produced to commemorate distillery manager Bobby Anderson’s 18th anniversary. An annual release of only 1,500 cases (9,000 bottles) globally. Speyburn 18 Years Old has been matured in hand-selected American and Spanish oak casks, giving it its distinctive and rich taste.

Palte - Creamy dark chocolate, toffee, a gently oak spiciness and a touch of citrus give way to a long, slightly smoky finish with an enticing bittersweet edge.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm, honey-gold glow.

Nose

Brimming with sweet toffee and sugared almonds, accented by chunky tropical fruit. Caramelized sugar and candied apples weave through the aroma, finishing with a very subtle, honeyed smokiness that hints at oak.

Palate

Creamy dark chocolate and toffee unfold with a gentle oak spice, a citrus lift brightening the mid-palate, culminating in a long, lightly smoky finish with a refined bittersweet edge.

Finish

Full-bodied and indulgent, this finish lingers with a slightly smoky, bittersweet edge. Creamy dark chocolate and toffee give way to gentle oak spice, with a citrus lift that threads through, leaving a long, warm, memorable finish.

Speyburn
(Spey-BURN) Speyburn was founded in Rothes in 1897 by John Hopkins, who built the distillery beside the Granty Burn and brought in Charles C. Doig to design a three-level site that worked with the steep valley rather than flattening it. Production began in time to fill the first cask before the end of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee year, and the distillery later passed to Distillers Company Limited in 1916. Speyburn then closed during the Second World War, when the site was used to house Scottish artillery regiments, before reopening in 1947.
