"Sweet peat and malt on the nose, quite dry on the rather peppery palate, sweeter and fruitier with barley notes when diluted. Lingering ash notes in the lengthy finish."
PC8 appeared in 2009 And Ar Duthchas translates as land of our heritage and peated to the usual 40ppm levels of peat for Port Charlotte.
At the time of writing (January 2012) this is the authors favorite dram, superior to PC9 for sure, and as much time is spent nosing as it is tasting, wonderful. Six different tin designs to collect.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a copper-gold sheen and whispering mahogany tones, like molten sunset in a glass.
Nose
Sweet peat and malt rise on the nose, a clean, dry aroma with whispers of barley sweetness and a touch of coastal smoke.
Palate
Dry, peppery on the palate, with a restrained sweetness that grows into fruitier, barley-led notes as the dram opens. A subtle peat backbone lingers, ending in a long, ash-tinged finish.
Finish
An enduring finish of ash and peat, where smoky embers linger long, leaving a dry, peppery fade that gradually eases into silence.
