Midleton Dair Ghaelach Virgin Irish Oak Tree #9 Whiskey 15 Year Old
Out of stock
Aged for between 15 and 22 years in American Bourbon casks and then finished in Virgin Irish Oak casks for 12 months. This is quite simply one of the best ever releases under the Midleton label with the unique finish in virgin Irish oak casks from Grinsell's wood from just 10 trees that yielded 48 casks. Voted best Irish whisky in the 2016 Whisky magazine World's best whisky awards and i have to agree, simply stunning quality with epic depth and complexity of flavour.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a velvety honey glow.
Nose
Opulent vanilla and honeyed spice rise from the bourbon backbone, while Virgin Irish Oak lends a fresh, resinous lift—new wood, toasted cinnamon and clove, with hints of orchard fruit and almond, and a whisper of smoke. Polished, generous, and utterly aromatic, signaling depth and craft.
Palate
Opulent and velvety on the palate, it unfurls rich vanilla, honeyed toffee and orchard fruit, layered with dark chocolate and almond. Virgin Irish Oak adds a resinous, spicy backbone—cinnamon, clove and a touch of white pepper—creating a deep, oak-driven sweetness that lingers with luxurious warmth.
Finish
A long, luxurious finish of honeyed vanilla and toasted oak, threaded with warm spice and subtle cedar. Dried fruit and cocoa linger, while the Virgin Irish Oak lends a resinous, polished fade that slowly tapers to a refined sweetness.
