Cath-Nah-Aven is our salute to the great Sherried whiskies from the banks of the river Spey. This award-winning Vancouver Island distilled classic single malt spirit was carefully matured in premium Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks from Andalucía in Spain. This whisky is carefully selected from a range of American (Quercus alba) oak casks. These were married by our Whiskymaker to create a complex red-berry, plum, and oak nose that compliments and enhances the fruit and floral notes of our new-make spirit.

On the palate, this Sherried classic single malt has a huge body with a creamy mouthfeel. the plums, raisins, and spices, are complimented by structured tannins and oakwood notes, that ultimately yield to a background of juicy malt barley. The finish and development are long and complex with a symphony of diverse flavours for your personal exploration!

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with burnished copper and ruby highlights, a mahogany glow testifying to sherried richness.

Nose

Red-berry and plum mingle with oak, carried on a delicate floral lift. Sherry-cask depth—Oloroso and PX—brings warm dried-fruit sweetness that amplifies the new-make spirit’s perfume, yielding a lush, inviting aroma with depth and subtle spice.

Palate

A huge, creamy mouthfeel coats the palate as plums and raisins mingle with warming spices. Structured tannins and oak frame the fruit, yielding to a background of juicy malt barley for a long, evolving finish.

Finish

Long, elegant finish with velvet density. Juicy plum and raisin sweetness mingle with spicy oak, giving way to creamy malt. Sherry-cask warmth lingers as a coppery glow of dark chocolate, espresso, and berry notes, gradually fading into a refined, lasting finish.
