Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a warm mahogany glow.

Nose

Bright hints of pear and apple mingle with citrus zest, opening to warm winter spices—cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Rich rye contributes a peppery edge, while vanilla, toffee and a touch of maple oak lend depth and a softly smoky, dark-wood character.

Palate

Velvety and full-bodied, this Canadian rye coats the mouth with orchard and dark fruit, then unfolds warming winter spices: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, woven through rye grain and toasted oak. Rich, slightly chewy texture leads to a long, lingering finish of spice, dried fruit, and vanilla, leaving a confident, resinous warmth.

Finish

Long, warm finish of dark-wood spice and toasted rye, with cinnamon and clove lingering over dried orchard fruit. Velvety oak tannins kiss the palate, fading to a peppery, lingering glow that invites another sip.

Produced by the Hiram Walker distillery in Windsor, Ontario, locally cultivated rye is distilled in the old-fashioned way – one batch at a time in a traditional copper pot still. Released in 2012, Lot No. 40 follows a recipe passed down seven generations that results in a pure expression of rye whisky.
