Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery-bronze sheen and a warm honey-gold glow.
Nose
Bold maritime aromas leap from the glass: peat smoke and ash fuse with brine and iodine, like sea spray on a warm, mineral backbone. A subtle veil of vanilla and oak adds gentle sweetness. Intense, unmistakable, and quintessentially Laphroaig.
Palate
Powerfully peated with a briny, medicinal core that coats the palate in smoky sea spray. Notes of iodine, seaweed and smoked bacon mingle with a subtle malt sweetness and vanilla, driving a peppery warmth. Long, drying finish of charred oak and sea salt.
Finish
Long maritime finish where peat smoke meets sea-salt iodine, leaving a medicinal, briny warmth that clings. A thread of vanilla and subtle sherry sweetness drift in, then recede to an enduring kiss of smoky oak. Bold, persistent and unmistakably Islay.
