Benriach The Smoky Twelve Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Miniature 12 Year Old
In stock
In the early 1970s, Benriach broke convention in Speyside by returning to distilling batches of whisky in the old, 19th century style, using malted barley smoked with Highland peat. This wood rich Highland peat imparts distinctly sweet and smoky notes into Benriach peated whiskies.
Benriach The Smoky Twelve has been crafted from a combination of unpeated and peated spirit and three cask matured for at least twelve years in bourbon barrels, sherry casks and Marsala wine casks. The whisky from each cask is then expertly married together to create a smooth, creamy single malt, layered with ripened fruit, aromatic smoky sweetness and warming oak spice, lingering into a cocoa and orange smoke finish, all in perfect balance.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a warm copper-gold glow.
Nose
Ripe orchard fruit and honeyed sweetness rise with delicate peat smoke, woven with vanilla and subtle sherry-Marsala warmth. Cocoa and orange zest mingle with toasted oak, inviting and balanced on the nose.
Palate
Silky and creamy on the palate, with ripened fruit and a suave smoky sweetness. Layered through are warm oak spices from bourbon, sherry and Marsala casks, allied with a gentle peat lift. The cocoa and orange smoke finish lingers long, balanced by the whisky’s fruit-forward core.
Finish
Long and refined, the finish marries cocoa with bright orange zest and a whisper of peat smoke. The sweetness dissolves into warm oak and spice, leaving a cocoa-dusted, orange-smoked echo that lingers in perfect balance.
