"While you might expect this South African malt to be a big bruiser of a whisky, it is actulally less assertive than the 5 year old. With savoury salt and pepper and an earthy, peaty underlay, this is not unlike a Glen Garioch or a Benromach."
Three Ships Whisky was distilled by Andy Watts at the James Sedgwick distillery in Wellington, South Africa
Featured in Ian Buxton's 101 world whiskies to try before you die book.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-gold with a burnished amber core and warm honey highlights.
Nose
Salted, peppery notes lead the way, edged by an earthy peat that lingers with quiet confidence. Beneath, toasty malt and minerals provide a coastal, maritime impression, suggesting a restrained, refined peatiness rather than a brash punch.
Palate
Salty, peppery savouriness on the palate, with an earthy, peaty underlay. Refined and restrained, it offers a quiet, lingering finish.
Finish
Saline pepper lingers, woven through an earthy peat undertone. The finish draws out a maritime mineral edge, a gentle smoke and barley sweetness that slowly fades to a warm, polished glow. Medium-long, with a refined, contemplative aftertaste that invites the next sip.
