The Quinta Ruban 14 Years Old is a whisky journey into the wild – a dark and delectable forest where the wind whistles with gusts of peppermint and dark swirls of chocolate can happen at any moment.

In Glenmorangie's giraffe-high stills, it begins soft and fruity, then gets darker and deeper as they let it age for 14 years in bourbon casks and port casks from Portugal.

Dark mahogany with copper-amber highlights and a velvet ruby edge.

Nose

Dark mint chocolate mingles with tangerines and Seville oranges, weaving through sandalwood and walnut, then revealing a pepper and nutmeg spice finish.

Palate

Mint chocolate and walnuts envelop the palate like velvet, laying the foundations for rose, Turkish delight and sweet Seville oranges.

Finish

A long, silky finish that lingers with dark chocolate mint and traces of orange.

Selling their whisky for mere shillings per gallon, the venture may have started small, its location remote, but the Mathesons' vision was extraordinary. They were laying the foundations of what would become one of the most famous Scotch whisky distilleries in the world.
