Distillery Bottling

Driven by an unrelenting spirit of innovation, Dr. Bill Lumsden envisioned a whisky that evokes the vibrant essence of exotic spice markets—where vivid colours and bold aromas come together in a rich sensory experience. A Tale of Spices is a rare limited edition, matured in a unique combination of Moroccan red wine casks, new charred oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and shaved, toasted red wine barrels—an unconventional maturation that sets it apart in the world of whisky.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with warm coppery highlights and a touch of mahogany.

Nose

Fragrant and captivating, the nose unfolds a perfumed bouquet of rose, jasmine, lilac and carnation, layered with cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chili and anise. Gentle hints of sweet oak and roasted chestnut anchor the aroma, while a touch of water reveals delicate fruit, menthol and fresh bread dough.

Palate

A bold explosion of spice greets the palate—ginger, black pepper, and mustard seed lend warmth and earthy depth. A satin sweetness follows, with mint toffee, demerara sugar, and sugar-dusted almonds. A bright eucalyptus lift pervades the experience, guiding a lingering finish of clove, leather, and cool peppermint.

Finish

A lingering finish of clove, leather, and cool peppermint, as spice threads soften into a mentholated, refined echo that lingers with quiet sophistication.

Glenmorangie
(glen-MOR-angie) Glenmorangie's story begins in 1843 with farmer William Matheson who, with his wife, Anne, set about building a distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Selling their whisky for mere shillings per gallon, the venture may have started small, its location remote, but the Mathesons' vision was extraordinary. They were laying the foundations of what would become one of the most famous Scotch whisky distilleries in the world.
