Glen Garioch The Renaissance 1st Chapter Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 15 Year Old
In stock
During the whole of 2015 all of the staff here at Hard To Find between us have sampled hundreds of different Whiskies, some good, some not-so-good and some outstanding.
This 15 year old cask strength Glen Garioch falls firmly into the outstanding category and was the Whisky which everyone at HTFW agreed that, for the price, was by far our favourite of the lot. It's called the Renaissance and it's the first Part of a four part annual series that will document the progress of this freshly rejuvenated distillery.
Jason, the founder of Hard To Find (and who wears much better looking hats than other Whisky Reviewers) approached the Distillery, purchased as many bottles as were still available and then managed (as he always seems to do), to get the selling price reduced.
The majority of our in-store customers who have sampled this have promptly purchased a bottled so why don't you give it a try and let us know if you agree with us?

Tasting Notes
Colour
Radiant amber-gold with coppery sheen and a whisper of mahogany at the rim.
Nose
Opulent and robust, the nose releases bright orange zest and ripe orchard fruit, lacquered with toffee and vanilla. Sherry oak brings dark fruit and spice, cinnamon and clove, interwoven with toasted almond. A touch of sea breeze adds depth, hinting at a bold, warming sip.
Palate
Full-bodied and velvety, this cask-strength Glen Garioch coats the palate with dark, sherried fruit—prune, fig, and raisin—intertwined with orange peel, vanilla, and subtle cocoa. Spices rise in the mid-palate: cinnamon, clove, and black pepper, framed by robust oak. The finish is long, warm, and pleasantly dry, leaving a lingering, tactile warmth across the tongue.
Finish
Powerful, lingering finish where oak and spice deliver a warm banner; dark fruit compotes, orange peel and cocoa drift in and out as the sherry influence persists, leaving a velvety sweetness with a final sting of nutmeg and pepper.
