Glen Garioch Macbeth Act One - Thanes Series - Angus Single Malt Scotch Whisky 31 Year Old
In stock
A collection of forty-two different whiskies from the length and breadth of Scotland, selected and bottled by Livingstone in partnership with Elixir Distillers. Each whisky represents a character from the Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, with illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake and character notes by Dave Broom.
Angus is one of twelve noble malts in The Thanes series.
There is complexity in Angus, who is among the thanes who switch allegiance from Macbeth to Malcolm over the course of the play. Our choice of distillery here, Glen Garioch has a fascinating tale of its own - the early 1990s saw a return to slower production that you can taste in the weight of the spirit. Florals and spices are balanced and tempered by the unctuous mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany depth and coppery shimmer.
Nose
Floral grace opens the nose—lavender, elderflower and lilac, soft and inviting—flanked by spices: white pepper, ginger, a touch of clove. Subtle citrus zest and orchard fruit rise, while a creamy, waxy undercurrent hints at oak and sherry age. Elegant, inviting, and poised with depth.
Palate
Silky and substantial, with an unctuous mouthfeel that coats the tongue. Delicate florals unfold into a measured spice—white pepper, ginger—set against a weighty, refined frame. The slower production shows in depth and balance, leading to a long, warm finish with gentle oak nuance.
Finish
An elongated, unctuous finish that clings with perfumed florals and refined spice. Oak and a subtle sherry nuance drift across the palate, gradually fading to a delicate sweetness and a lingering, comforting velvet finish.
