Compass Box Tobias & Angel Blended Scotch Whisky
Out of stock
A rather special limited edition release from Compass Box. Tobias and the Angel comprises just two parcels of whisky, from Clynelish and Caol Ila, matured in refill Bourbon hogsheads before being vatted together. Only 2634 bottles are available worldwide.
These distilleries have long been staples of the Compass Box bottlings but never with malt this old. Clynelish accounts for 50.9% of the blend and is a parcel of 24 year old malt while the Caol Ila accounts for the other 49.1% and we are are only told it is 'considerably older' (rumoured to be a 34 year old).
Along with the beautiful artwork on the bottle, the original artwork was partly produced by Da Vinci, this is another stellar whisky highlighting the elements of both distilleries (waxy, grassy, citrus, earthy and peaty) in a superb blended malt.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep golden amber with coppery edges and honeyed warmth, a sunlit, luxurious glow.
Nose
Waxen and pristine, the nose opens with citrus zest and fresh green grass, bright and inviting. An earthy mineral spine grounds the profile, while a delicate maritime peat waltzes through with soft smoke. Subtle vanilla and toffee from the bourbon cask linger, marrying Clynelish’s waxiness with Caol Ila’s coastal peat in elegant balance.
Palate
Waxy, citrusy with grassy freshness, the palate unfolds into earthy peat and sea-salt, a maritime bite balanced by vanilla, toffee and subtle oak. Creamy, mouthfilling texture leads to a long finish of smoke and citrus zest.
Finish
Long and contemplative, the finish lingers with a velvety waxiness that coats the palate. Bright lemon zest and sea-salt mingle with a whisper of Caol Ila peat, evolving into a faint medicinal smoke that slowly fades to warm, gentle oak and spice. A refined, memorable tail that recalls both distilleries in harmonious quiet.
