This 8-year-old Clynelish from Thompson Bros was matured in refill hogsheads and bottled at 48% ABV, with an outturn of 2,187 bottles. The refill casks let the distillate take centre stage, which suits Clynelish particularly well, keeping that classic waxy Highland character clear while allowing the whisky’s bright citrus and fruit notes to shine.
There is plenty of energy here, but also more texture and weight than the age might suggest. Zesty citrus, ripe fruit and coastal touches sit alongside caramelised barley, marzipan and a thick waxy note, giving the whisky a profile that feels both lively and satisfyingly full.

Zesty citrus arrives on the palate with a mouth-coating brightness—lemon peel, grapefruit, and a coastal hint of green olives meet sweet pineapple juice. Caramelised barley and a thick beeswax texture add weight, then lemon meringue and crème anglaise glow before a honeyed, waxy finish lingers with citrus oils.
