Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich caramel-amber with coppery warmth and honey-gold highlights; a deep, inviting hue that glows in the glass.

Nose

Aromas of toasted oak and caramel-rich sweetness unfold, threaded with mint, a whisper of anise, and a touch of black pepper, finished with vanilla spice. Elegant and inviting, a distinctly Kentucky aroma of warm hospitality and sun-worn stone fences.

Palate

Oaky caramel leads with creamy sweetness, then mint and anise drift through. A sharp black pepper edge adds lift, balanced by vanilla and toasted oak. The single-barrel depth delivers refined warmth and Kentucky harvest charm, with a lingering finish of caramel-spice and a hint of mineral grace.

Finish

Long, warm finish of toasted oak and caramel, with persistent whispers of mint, anise and black pepper that linger gracefully.

Buffalo Trace
Buffalo Trace is based in Frankfort, Kentucky, on a distilling site with roots stretching back more than two centuries. The distillery was previously known as O.F.C. and later George T. Stagg Distillery, with figures such as E.H. Taylor Jr., George T. Stagg and Albert B. Blanton all playing important roles in its development. It was one of the few American distilleries allowed to continue operating during Prohibition, producing whiskey for medicinal use.
