Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection - Peated Malt Whiskey 9 Year Old · 2012 Vintage
In stock
The latest release in its Experimental Collection: the Buffalo Trace Experimental Peated Bourbon.
The Kentucky straight bourbon has been distilled with a proportion of peated malt in the mash mill. It was aged for almost a decade in charred new oak casks before being bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
It is the 26th release in the Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection, which debuted in 2006 and explores the possibilities of the distillery's whiskey through tweaks to the mash bills, types of wood, and barrel treatment.

Tasting Notes
Colour
A warm copper-amber with honey-gold highlights and a polished bronze edge, like sunset in a glass.
Nose
Smoky peat weaves through vanilla and toffee, drifting over creamy oak with a lift of citrus zest. The peat lends a coastal, campfire edge to the bourbon’s sweetness, while whispers of spice and a refined mineral note keep the aroma poised and intriguing.
Palate
Soft peat smoke drapes a creamy bourbon core of vanilla, caramel and brown sugar, lifted by orange zest. Toasted oak adds cinnamon and clove spice, while a hint of char deepens the mid-palate. The peat lingers with a warm, peppery finish, impeccably balanced and refined.
Finish
Long, elegant finish with a whisper of peat smoke that lingers over vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak. Spiced warmth settles into charred wood and a subtle sweetness, leaving a refined, dry finish that invites another sip.
