Buffalo Trace are one of the most awarded American distilleries and also one of the most experimental, here using oats as the main grain instead of Corn so although not actually Bourbon it is well worth trying if you enjoy the Buffalo Trace range. Bottled at 9 years old and full of almost Rye like notes of mint and aromatic spices along with apple, cinnamon, tobacco leaf, orange curd and oaty flapjack flavours. A really interesting small batch American whisky for those who like something different from the mass produced brands.

Nose

Oats take center stage, airy and toasty, with a cool mint lift and aromatic spice. Bright apple notes mingle with cinnamon, tobacco leaf and orange curd zest, all wrapped in a delicate, grainy aroma that hints at the oats-forward craft.

Buffalo Trace
Buffalo Trace is based in Frankfort, Kentucky, on a distilling site with roots stretching back more than two centuries. The distillery was previously known as O.F.C. and later George T. Stagg Distillery, with figures such as E.H. Taylor Jr., George T. Stagg and Albert B. Blanton all playing important roles in its development. It was one of the few American distilleries allowed to continue operating during Prohibition, producing whiskey for medicinal use.
