A rather exciting release this as we are seeing less older aged Bowmore (whether official or Indie) at the moment. A 1996 Bowmore from indie bottler Elexir Distillers, matured in a single sherry butt for 23 years, before being bottled in October 2019 as part of its Single Malts of Scotland series.
Coastal aromas of sea salt and seaweed mingle with wildflowers, burning peat, rosemary and grilled pineapple fill the nose. The palate offers notes of sweet smoke, poached pears, salt flakes and wildflowers.

Rich deep amber-gold with copper highlights and a mahogany-tinted edge.
Nose

On the palate, sweet smoke blends with poached pears, salt flakes and wisps of wildflowers, delivering a gentle maritime lift and a lingering floral finish.
Finish
Long, maritime finish of sea salt and peat smoke, carried by a gentle sherry warmth. A whisper of sweetness and dried fruit lingers as coastal minerals fade, leaving a drying, peppery spice that persists like sun-warmed driftwood.
