Distilled at Bowmore Distillery on Islay and matured for 18 years, this release from the Darkness range was bottled at 54.9% ABV after a finishing period in Moscatel sherry octave casks, with the cask yielding 370 bottles.
The Darkness series is known for finishing mature whisky in very small octave casks, which increases wood contact and intensifies flavour during the final stage of maturation. In this case, the sweet influence of Moscatel dessert wine casks adds a rich, fruity layer to Bowmore’s classic maritime Islay style.
