Blair Athol Chapter 7 - Single Wine Cask #306651 Whisky 12 Year Old · 2009 Vintage
In stock
Another workhorse distillery producing malts for Diageo blends, mostly for Bell's. This beautiful distillery was built in 1798 in Pitlochry. It has a nutty character resulting from cloudy worts and short fermentation. Majority of Blair Athol's malt for blending is destined for bourbon wood ageing so it's rather rare that we found a wine cask aged Blair Athol. We think the cask used in the ageing was a 2nd or 3rd fill which resulted in a complex dram rather than a dominated one.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with coppery highlights and a whisper of mahogany.
Nose
An inviting, syrupy nose of fruit syrup, honey and brown sugar, with orchard fruit notes—apple, canned pears, peaches and apricots—brightened by kiwi and a touch of muscovado sweetness.
Palate
Barley syrup coats the palate with a gentle sweetness, unfolding into preserved fruits and a rustic note of muesli and fruit cereals. Citrus notes lend a bright spark, while chalky minerals keep it buoyant; lemon zest adds a crisp, cleansing zing to the finish.
Finish
Vanilla and coffee liqueurs and creams.
