Benriach Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Old Bottling) 21 Year Old
In stock
The 21 Year Old BenRiach has been matured in a combination of four types of cask - ex-Bourbon, virgin oak, PX Sherry, and red wine casks. It opens with fresh summer fruit compote, soft vanilla and vibrant candied peel, developing into tangy red fruits, barley sugar with spice, chocolate, and warming ginger on the finish.
"BenRiach 21-year-old is the next step on [our] innovative journey, bringing together four eclectic casks in one single malt: Bourbon barrels at its core enriched by virgin American oak, Pedro Ximenez and red wine casks," said master blender Rachel Barrie.
This unpeated single malt is one of two BenRiach expressions to be released at 21 years old. The second, which is described as 'richly peated', will be launched in early 2018..
A soft and juicy Benriach with all four casks working in unison to create a lovely red berry-aromatic spice-cocoa-vanilla rich malt from this ever reliable distillery.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, sunlit amber with coppery highlights and a subtle ruby-tinted chestnut hue from the sherry and red-wine casks.
Nose
Red berry compote opens the nose, lifted by warm vanilla and delicate toffee wafers. Ripe melon and peaches in syrup mingle with raspberry ripple ice cream, while an elegant spice threads through the aroma.
Palate
Big ripe red berries, cherry bakewell, french toast, sweet spice and some cocoa.
Finish
Peach melba and raspberry jam linger with soft, sweet spices and a cocoa-nut chocolate echo. A ginger warmth threads through the finish, leaving a refined, confection-like finale that lingers gracefully on the palate and invites the next indulgent sip.
