Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a coppery glow and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Intense sherry dominates the aroma, perfuming the glass with dark raisin, fig and prune notes, ribbons of orange zest and a drizzle of toffee. Layered cocoa, toasted almond and a touch of cinnamon mingle with rich oak and a whisper of leather. At cask strength, the bouquet is bold, warm, and lingering, hinting at opulent maturity and depth.
Palate
Opulent and full-bodied, this Benriach single-cask coats the palate with a warm sherried sweetness. Deep dried-fruit notes of fig, raisin and orange zest mingle with dark chocolate, espresso and spice. The velvety, 61.2% ABV texture carries cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, resolving to a long finish of oak, treacle and gentle licorice.
Finish
Long, warm finish with sherry-influenced sweetness—ripe plum, fig and raisin—woven with dark chocolate and toasted oak. Spicy ginger and clove lift through the mid-palate as orange zest threads brighten the exit. A luxurious, lingering warmth lingers, leaving a velvet, resinous finish.
