Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep copper-amber with shimmering golden highlights and mahogany-tinged edges.

Nose

Rich and deep, with exotic, elegant oak, unfolding into sweet dried fruits—raisins and dates—then a spicy lift of ground ginger and melted brown sugar.

Palate

Rich and lush, with a gentle tang and candied orange peel, layered with oak vanilla. Golden syrup and honeycomb mingle with toasted hazelnuts, finished by a warm kiss of ginger and nutmeg.

Finish

Long, warm finish of sweet malt, carried by oak-vanilla and a delicate spice. Ginger and nutmeg echo in the tail, leaving a creamy honeyed glow and a refined, lingering warmth.

(bal-VENN-ee) Founded in 1889 by William Grant, Balvenie is located next to the giant Glenfiddich distillery on the outskirts of Dufftown in Speyside. The distillery employs traditional whisky making methods, being one of the few to retain its original floor maltings and on site cooperage. The Balvenie single malt is typically rich, luxuriously smooth, and has a distinctive honeyed character.
