Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 at 45% ABV, this 13-year-old Auchroisk was released by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the long-running Connoisseurs Choice series. After initial maturation in refill bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished in Côte-Rôtie red wine casks, a renowned Rhône wine made primarily from Syrah, before bottling. The batch yielded 2,060 bottles.
Auchroisk Distillery was built in 1974 by Justerini & Brooks to supply malt whisky for blends such as J&B Rare, meaning official single malt releases are relatively uncommon and often appear through independent bottlers.

Colour
Rich amber‑gold with coppery undertones and a faint ruby‑tinged glow.
Nose
Luxurious fudge aromas give way to ripe red currants and citrus zest, with strawberry liquorice tempered by a whisper of white pepper.
Palate
On the palate, sweet summer fruit flavours mingle with bright clementine, beneath an undercurrent of roasted coffee beans. Cinnamon and ginger spice rise to the fore, lending warmth and a poised, wine-influenced backbone.
Finish
Medium-length finish with a bright peppermint edge, a cooling, minty fade that lingers softly.
