Ardbeg Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture.Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Finished in new french oak casks for a more tarry, spicy and leathery style of Ardbeg. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted!

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gleam and mahogany undertones, a rich, tarry glow.
Nose
Heady, intense and powerful, torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil pour from the glass, followed by waxy dark chocolate, warm blackcurrants and muscovado sugar. A briny edge of salty seasoning introduces seaweed and smoky bacon swirling on the surface.
Palate
Deep, peppery and chewy, it storms the palate. Chewy steak in pepper sauce with tangy crispy seaweed; black tarry espresso coats the tongue with rich dark fruits and bitter almonds. Star anise and hickory dry the finish, yielding a chalky, effervescent kiss of violets.
Finish
Long, deep and powerful, the finish lingers with black tarry coffee, chocolate-coated cherries and a final glow of hot pepper sauce.
