Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber-gold with sunlit honey and bronze undertones.

Nose

Opens with gilded sweetness: honeyed apricot and candied peach mingle with orange marmalade, layered over vanilla oak and roasted almond. Subtle buttered pastry and creme brulee notes echo the Sauternes cask finish, while a kiss of citrus zest adds lift. Elegant, liqueur-like richness with a refined, dessert-wine warmth.

Palate

Silky, honeyed and lush, it coats the palate with apricot, peach and orange marmalade, punctuated by tropical fruit notes. Creamy toffee, vanilla and saffron mingle with warm oak and a touch of almond. Balanced sweetness carries through a long, velvety finish, leaving lingering fruit and spice.

Finish

Long, velvety finish of dessert-wine sweetness, with honeyed apricot, marmalade and peach, and delicate botrytized fruit notes with almond. Fading spice and toasted oak lift the sweetness, leaving a warm kiss of vanilla and a refined, lingering finish.

Aber Falls was commissioned in late 2017 and began production in early 2018 in Abergwyngregyn, North Wales, close to Rhaeadr Fawr, the Aber Falls waterfall. It was the first whisky distillery in North Wales for more than 100 years and forms part of Halewood Artisanal Spirits, with production centred on Welsh ingredients and local distillation.
