The 6th release in Penderyns 'Icons of Wales' series was launched on the 1st March 2019, and commemorates the original Welsh Whisky distillery at Frongoch, near Bala, which closed over 100 years ago.

This Single Malt is lightly Peated and has been finished in ex Tawny Port casks and is bottled at 43%. Delicate and slightly smokey, it mingles with vanilla, red berries and salted caramel aromas. The palate offers notes of toffee, treacle, pepper and heavy waves of peat smoke.

(pen-DERR-in) Penderyn was founded in 2000 in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, becoming the first whisky distillery in Wales in more than a century. The idea began in the late 1990s, when a group of friends set out to revive Welsh whisky, and the first Penderyn single malt was launched on St David’s Day in 2004 in the presence of Prince Charles.
