Penderyn Madeira Finish Single Malt Welsh Whisky is the original signature expression from Penderyn and a defining example of the distillery’s fresh, elegant house style. Produced in Wales, this beautifully balanced single malt is initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in carefully selected ex-Madeira wine casks. The ex-bourbon maturation develops layers of creamy vanilla, soft oak and gentle sweetness, while the Madeira cask finish adds greater richness, dried fruit and a distinctive balance of sweetness and appetising dryness. The result is a light yet characterful Welsh whisky with an aromatic profile, rounded texture and lingering fruit-led finish. The nose opens with classic Penderyn freshness, followed by cream toffee, rich fruit and plump raisins. On the palate, the whisky is crisp and finely rounded, combining vanilla sweetness, dried fruit and delicate oak spice with the contrasting dryness brought by the Madeira wine casks. Tropical fruit and raisins continue into the finish, accompanied by persistent vanilla and softly drying oak. Bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle and presented in its original box, Penderyn Madeira Finish offers enough intensity to be enjoyed neat while remaining smooth and approachable. A small amount of water opens the whisky further, revealing more of its fruit, vanilla and Madeira cask character.
