Yamazaki Puncheon 2010 Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky
Out of stock
This Yamazaki was matured in large 480 litre American white oak puncheon casks, where the higher volume and smaller spirit-to-wood contact slow the interaction with oak compared with smaller barrels, resulting in a richer but still elegant maturation profile.
This expression highlights how different wood types and cask sizes can reshape a whisky’s texture and flavour, making it a notable, slightly less intense alternative to other Yamazaki releases finished in smaller casks.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with warm honey tones and a subtle copper glow.
Nose
Fresh vanilla and oak invite a core of ripe pear and apple, lightly kissed by citrus zest. The large puncheon’s mellow oak gives a velvety sweetness with hints of almond and spice, delivering a refined, elegant aroma that hints at the whisky’s richer maturation.
Palate
Silky, medium-full on the palate, it glides with vanilla and caramel wrapped in toasted oak. Ripe pear and apple mingle with honey and a touch of citrus zest. Gentle spice—cinnamon and white pepper—lifts the profile, while integrated wood tannins keep it elegant and refined. A long, balanced finish with a whisper of sweetness.
Finish
A long, refined finish where oak sweetness returns softly: vanilla and toffee weave with subtle dried-fruit and spice, tapering to a warm, silky fade that lingers with quiet elegance.
