From the Waterford distillery, Hook Head 1.1 distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2021 comes out a hearty 50% ABV. 'Extreme maritime terroir' is the story here with Irish 'Propino' malted barley growing in maritime conditions creating a unique flavour profile.
This particular expression, aged for 3 years and 8 months, has been matured in first-fill, virgin US and French oak.

Earthy malt rises with a coastal brine, a maritime aroma of sea air clinging to grain. Subtle mineral salt and a whisper of citrus zest brighten the profile, hinting at the Virgin oak and the sea's influence on the barley.
Palate
Well-rounded mouthfeel with citrus brightness, layered with clove, salted caramel and pepper, finished by ginger biscuit notes that hint at maritime air.
Finish
A long, oily finish that lingers with salted popcorn and delicate floral hints from the French oak.
