Colour

Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge, a warm, radiant glow.

Nose

An 1897-style opening, the nose is softly persistent, hinting furniture wax, hessian and engine oil. With time, very old oloroso sherry emerges, weaving fruit and nut—figs, raisins, plums, pear tarte tatin and frangipane. The aroma thickens: coffee liqueur, flamed orange, caramel and black walnut bitters. Subtler herbal notes of pipe tobacco and eucalyptus offer a refined edge to this evolving, time-softened aroma.

Palate

Massive sherry notes coat the palate, with walnut, almond and raisins (almost PX) and a bright tangerine citrus. A wave of European oak spice, toffee and dark chocolate follows, then a liquorice sweetness emerges, finished by a hint of Assam tea.

Finish

Deep and rich, the finish opens with a subtle Assam Tea dryness that recedes to reveal re-emerging raisin and chocolate, leaving a long, cocoa-dusted warmth lingering on the palate.
