Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
At around five times cheaper than some official Macallan 35 year old's from a similar vintage, these Speymalt bottlings from Gordon and Macphail are at the moment undiscovered and undervalued bargains.

Colour

Nose
Opulent sherry hangs in the air, fusing dark plum, fig and orange zest with cocoa and caramel. Spiced with clove and cinnamon, the nose unfurls layers of toffee, vanilla and polished oak, then a whisper of leather and tobacco. A refined, mature sweetness lingers, hinting at decades of cask maturity.
Palate
Silky and generous on the palate, this Speymalt delivers dried fruit richness—raisin, fig and orange peel—bathed in refined oak. Subtle spice and cocoa unfold, with a hint of sherry-like sweetness, then taper to a long, elegant finish that lingers with warmth and polished wood notes.
Finish
Long, refined finish with oaken warmth and rich dried fruit—fig and orange zest—with a kiss of cocoa. Gentle spice lingers, wrapping the palate in velvet sweetness as the sherry influence softly fades to a poised, lingering glow.
