The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 42 Year Old · 1972 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
Oh wow a 42 year old ex-sherry cask Macallan for this price! Our friends at Gordon and Macphail don't mess around when it comes to putting quality Macallan on the market at such great value prices. We've tasted this one and it's a 97.5 in our book with the taste of powered milk chocolate easily identifiable.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a mahogany edge.
Nose
Opulent and mature, this nose pours out dried fig and prune, lifted by milk chocolate and orange zest. Rich sherry oak carries cocoa, toffee and caramel notes, with whispers of cinnamon and leather reinforcing depth. A refined, inviting aroma that hints at decades of maturation.
Palate
Silky, mouth-coating palate with a core of powered milk chocolate that deepens into dark cacao and toffee. Rich raisin and dried fig rise with orange zest, polished oak and a hint of espresso. Spices—cinnamon and clove—provide warmth, while velvet tannins carry a long, refined finish of sherried fruit and caramel.
Finish
Extremely long and refined, the finish lingers with dark chocolate and cocoa, entwined with dried fig and raisin and a bright hint of orange zest. Spiced vanilla and toasted oak persist, tapering to a velvety fade of leather and refined sherry sweetness.
