The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 49 Year Old · 1966 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
An astonishingly good value 49 year old Macallan Speymalt from Gordon & MacPhail. This just shows that you can still buy extra old Macallan for a good price. These are massively collectable and also great value drinking drams.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, sun-warmed amber with copper-gold radiance and subtle mahogany undertones.
Nose
Opulent and warm, the nose opens to dark sherry, dried fig and raisin, with bright orange zest. Cocoa, toffee and vanilla swirl with burnt sugar, while oak spices—cinnamon and clove—lend elegance. Subtle leather and almond notes add a refined, aged complexity that marks Macallan Speymalt at its mature peak.
Palate
Velvety and richly developed, it coats the palate with dark dried fruits—fig and raisin—spirited by refined sherried oak. Notes of orange zest, cocoa and ginger emerge, leading to a long, elegant finish of polished wood, toffee and a hint of leather. A luxurious harmony of sweetness and oak, lingering with grace.
Finish
An expansive, lingering finish unfolds with warm spice, orange zest and sherry sweetness, carried by velvet oak. Dried fruits and dark chocolate linger on the palate as whispers of leather and tobacco drift away, leaving a long, refined finale with oak and spice.
