Opulent sherry-driven aroma of dried figs, raisins and orange zest, folded with dark chocolate and toffee. Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg layer through velvety oak, while hints of leather and tobacco complete a refined, crown-jewel bouquet.

Palate

Silky and richly sherried, this 1964 Macallan coats the palate with dried fig and raisin, caramelized orange peel, and dark chocolate. Spices of cinnamon and nutmeg weave through refined oak, delivering a balanced, long warming finish with espresso and a subtle leather note.

Finish

Long, opulent finish of rich sherried sweetness and toasted oak, with dried fig, orange zest and cocoa notes; a gentle spice lingers as warmth stays long, velvety and refined, echoing the 1964 Macallan’s sherry-laden elegance.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
