The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old is a smooth, rich and beautifully balanced single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan Distillery in Speyside. Matured for a minimum of 12 years, this approachable expression combines the distillery’s renowned sherry-led character with the sweetness and creamy texture of carefully selected American oak.

The whisky is matured entirely in American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry wine in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Each type of wood brings a distinctive influence to the finished whisky. American oak adds sweet vanilla, fresh citrus and creamy toffee, while European oak contributes dried fruit, soft spice and a deeper sherry richness. Together, they create the harmonious and multi-layered style that defines The Macallan Double Cask Collection.

The nose opens with creamy fudge, vanilla and sweet oak, accompanied by candied orange and fresh lemon. On the palate, milk chocolate-covered raisins and smooth toffee are balanced by orange peel, dried fruit and gently warming spice. The texture is rounded and creamy, leading into a medium-length finish with lingering sweet oak, citrus and subtle spice.

Presented at entirely natural colour, The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old reflects the influence of its sherry-seasoned oak casks without the addition of artificial colouring. It offers an excellent introduction to The Macallan’s single malt whisky range while retaining enough richness and complexity to appeal to established Scotch whisky drinkers.
