Colour

Deep copper-amber with a luxurious mahogany core and a warm, burnished-gold glow.

Nose

Caramel and muscovado sugar lead a warm bouquet of rich dried fruits, ginger and nutmeg. Oak provides quiet structure as chocolate orange and raisins mingle, with a soft oak undercurrent tying the aroma together.

Palate

Dried fruits and rich fruit notes unfold with warm wood spice and ginger, delivering a dense, polished mouthfeel that coats the mouth with sweetness and spice and lingers into a long, refined finish.

Finish

Long, rich, and intensely fruity, the finish lingers with dried fruit and lush sherry, punctuated by bitter orange zest. Spices deepen the warmth as oak and subtle chocolate-orange notes imprint a persistent, polished finale.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
