A classic release from Macallan’s celebrated Anniversary Malt series, this 25 year old was distilled in 1974 and bottled at 43% ABV. Matured in sherry oak casks, it reflects the traditional, richly styled Macallan character of the period.

The nose offers polished oak, dried fruits, orange peel and gentle spice, with hints of leather and chocolate. On the palate, raisin, fig, toffee and warm baking spice are balanced by mature wood and a smooth, rounded texture. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering sherry sweetness and soft oak.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
